Wife of LA Dodgers' Alex Vesia shares emotional update following loss of baby daughter
A Heartbreaking Update from Alex Vesia’s Wife
The wife of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia has shared a deeply emotional and honest update on their family's situation following the tragic loss of their baby daughter. This revelation comes three months after the heartbreaking news that their daughter, Sterling, passed away on October 26. The couple had previously explained the pitcher’s absence from his team’s World Series victory, describing the pain they were enduring.
In a heartfelt statement, they said: “Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we're going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.” This message marked the beginning of a difficult chapter for the family, one that continues to shape their daily lives.
Now, Kayla has returned to social media to express gratitude to fans for their support and to share more about her journey. In a raw and unfiltered TikTok video, she spoke candidly about the challenges they face. She said: “I don't have much to say, honestly. Alex and I are just trying to get through it. Every day is so different for us right now.”

Kayla also expressed her appreciation for the community of supporters who have reached out to offer love and encouragement. She noted how this support has brought comfort during an incredibly difficult time. “I am really grateful for the community of you guys and just expressing your support and love toward us. It really has brought us a lot of comfort during this.”
She added that she wants to share her personal journey, not necessarily to dwell on the details, but to help others who may be going through similar experiences. “I do want to share my journey. I don't know how much I'm gonna share. I don't know the details of it, but I do know that I want to share and if it can help somebody who's going through the same thing, you know — feel like they're not alone.”
Kayla made it clear that she does not intend to use the platform as a place to cry or vent. “I will not be coming on here and crying. I don't want to come on the internet and cry. I don't think that's fun for anyone.” Instead, she sees this as a new outlet for her and her husband to process their emotions, separate from their therapy sessions.

Her last post on the platform was in November, when she first shared the news of their daughter’s passing. In that message, she wrote: “Our little angel we love you forever & you’re with us always. Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them.”
This statement came just before the World Series, where Vesia was absent from the Dodgers. The team cited a “deeply personal matter” as the reason for his absence. Despite this, the Dodgers managed to win one of the most thrilling World Series in recent memory, defeating the Blue Jays in Game 7 to secure their second consecutive championship.
Vesia, known as one of the best left-armers in the game, played a crucial role for the Dodgers during the 2025 season. His absence was noticeable during the World Series, even though the team ultimately emerged victorious.
Both the Dodgers and the Blue Jays paid tribute to Vesia by wearing his number, 51, on their caps during the event. Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts praised the gesture, saying, “I think it really speaks to the brotherhood of athletes, Major League Baseball players.”
Alex and Kayla met in 2019 and got married in January 2024. Kayla had previously shared on TikTok that they connected after he reached out to her on Instagram. Their story, while filled with joy, has now taken a painful turn, one that they continue to navigate together.
